Construction Education
The Alaska Construction Academies are located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, Ketchikan and Mat-Su. These academies will provide training for an estimated 700-900 high school students and 250-300 adults. Training at the high school level includes curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and the completion and mastery of each level of the courses results in a certificate and registration on a National registry with recognition among construction companies in the United States.
Adult classes are 6 to 8 week courses offered two evenings a week and on Saturdays. The academy provides basic skills and hands-on experiences to prepare adults for future employment with members of the Home Building Associations or entrance into apprenticeship programs. The adult training curriculum is supported by industry therefore; we are assured that workers will be trained according to industry standards.
